The investigation into Durov focuses on the lack of moderators on Telegram, with police alleging that this has facilitated criminal activities on the platform.
Earlier this year, Durov spoke about the ongoing challenges he has faced from global authorities, particularly from Russia and the United States, during an interview with Tucker Carlson.
Telegram is renowned for its strong encryption, and Durov has consistently declined government requests for a backdoor key for investigative purposes.

Elon Musk took to social media to show his backing for Pavel Durov, highlighting the significance of the First Amendment's free speech protections in the United States. He stated, “It’s 2030 in Europe, and individuals are being executed for simply liking memes.” Musk also referenced reports indicating that Durov could potentially face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
Telegram-Associated TON Token Drops Over 15%  
The TON token, associated with Telegram, experienced a sharp decline of up to 17% following reports of Durov's arrest in France. Currently, TON is trading at just over $5.83, reflecting a 14% decrease in the past few hours.
