In a recent official report, the Central Bank of Russia has identified Bitcoin (BTC) as the most profitable investment globally over the past 3 years. According to the report, Bitcoin has outperformed traditional assets such as gold, stocks, and bonds, with a return of 38% over the past 12 months.
Since 2022, Bitcoin's cumulative return has reached an impressive 121.3%, significantly surpassing the returns of gold, stocks, fixed-income instruments, and major indices like the S&P 500.
However, the Central Bank also noted Bitcoin's short-term volatility, citing an 18.6% decline between January and April 2025. Fortunately, Bitcoin rebounded in April with an 11.2% increase, solidifying its position in the investment market.
The bank observed that Bitcoin has evolved from a speculative asset to a store of value and a tool for hedging against inflation, attracting large corporations and even government investments. As more companies and governments invest in Bitcoin, it creates a domino effect, encouraging others to follow suit and establish strategic reserves of the cryptocurrency.
